Below you can find an overview of the notable changes between patches, including notable "episode" releases. Feel free to let me know if I've missed something, or if there's anything you'd like to add. These patch numbers are from the US distribution. Little information is available online about the older versions, so I'd be grateful for anybody that has more information or can provide more context.
Episode 1: Light and Darkness (ps0001, 18th December 2007)

Episode 1: Light and Darkness (ps0001, 18th December 2007)

- The basic game - no gear enhancement or orange stat rerolling existed.
- Groups were limited to 7-player parties.
- Guilds did not yet exist
- Only Easy and Normal mode was selectable by players, thus the max level of 50.
Episode 2: The Dragon Strikes Back (ps0004, 11th January 2008)1

- Hard and Ultimate mode available to players.
- Freezing Mirage and Haruhion were added to the game.
- Fantasma and Cloron dragons were added to the respective dungeons.
- Lv5 Lapis was made available from Stigma and Aurizen Ruin.
Episode 3: Guidance of Goddess (ps0014, 9th May 2008)

- Deep Desert Lv1, Lv2 and Stable Erde maps were added to the game, along with the Invasion system for accessing these maps via D-Water altar ownership.
- The guild system was implemented.
- Legendary gear (5 slots) were made available.
- Accessory and dual-stat lapis were added as drops.
- Teleport stones were added to the game, so players could save teleportation waypoints.
- The Cryptic Throne was added to the game, along with Goddess equipment.
- Guild ranking battle and guild rankings were implemented.
Episode 4: Eternity (ps0019, 23rd July 2008)

- Raid ("union") groups were added to the game.
- The ability to gift products from the cash shop to other users was implemented.
- Some hats were added for Halloween: Batman, Dragon, Ghost, Pinhead, Zombie
- Helmet Lapis Lv1 were added to the game, accessible via the Helmet Lapis Pocket. These were only obtainable through in-game events, or via promotions in the item mall.
- Apulune and Iris maps were populated with Halloween pumpkins.
- Various maps were updated with snow, ice, and christmas decorations.
- Christmas themed animals were added as mounts.
- Snowboard mounts added to the game.
- A snow weather effect was added.
- Christmas decorations removed from maps.
- Chocolate consumables were added for Valentine's events, as well as Valentine Day Loops.
- Sky City along with Greendieta Seraphim were added to the game. This was the introduction of various debuff lapis.
- User interface graphics were overhauled to what most people now know as the Ep4 interface. This is when the title screen officially labeled itself as "Eternity".
- The vault guild had a makeover.
- Oblivion Insula is implemented, allowing players to obtain Lv6 Lapis.
- The "Shaiya Eternity" logo was changed to have a gold outline.
- The login screen was changed to display Caelum Sacra.
- Recreation runes were added, along with orange stats on gear and the ability to recreate them.
- Weapon lapisia was added to the game, allowing players to enchant their weapons. Armor lapisia is not yet added.
- Armor lapisia is added to the game, allowing players to enchant their equipment, adding absorption.
- Event copies of pvp maps are added to the game.
- Support for linked server pvp events was added.
- The auction board was added to the game, allowing players to trade items for gold via the notice board. Prior to this, players had to trade in-person via personal shops, or through trading.
- Two quick-slot action buttons were added to the user interface, allowing players to quickly use consumables.
- The revolver bar was added to the user interface.
- The Paper Bag Helmet was added for Game Sages, allowing them to appear with an orange name while having it equipped.
- Guild houses were added for qualifying guilds, allowing them to have an instanced area where they could meet.
- Caelum Sacra and Dios Exiel were made accessible. This also introduced the ability to obtain Absorption lapis, and Lv2 elemental lapis.
